Founded: 2005 13th Street Cat Rescue is an all-volunteer animal rescue in San Jose, California. We are dedicated to improving the lives of homeless cats and controlling their population by the use of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). TNR is an internationally-recognized, humane and effective program for reducing the population of stray and feral cats.

All of us here at 13th St. Cat Rescue are mourning the loss of Walter White, a beloved sanctuary cat who passed away recently after a recurrence of ear cancer. Despite being semi-feral and untouchable, Walter spent over five wonderful years thriving at the rescue, charming volunteers with his big personality and gathering a devoted fan base. His absence has left a deep void in the sanctuary among both the humans and his fellow cats.

Meet Mittens!
Mittens is a tiny tuxedo boy with a HUGE personality. This playful little acrobat loves bouncing around the house, wrestling with his sister Buttons, and “chatting” with his humans about his daily adventures.
He’s energetic, goofy, affectionate, and guaranteed to keep you entertained with his fuzzy popcorn zoomies.
Mittens would do great in a home with another playful companion, or with his sister Buttons.

Meet Buttons!
Buttons is the perfect mix of cuddly sweetheart and tiny comedian. One minute she’s curled up beside you for snuggles, and the next she’s bouncing around on her hind legs like a little human during playtime.
She loves wrestling with her brother Mittens and would do great in a home with another playful companion — especially him.
