The horrific acts of violence we saw in Dallas last night are reprehensible. I reached out to Mayor Rawlings to express Sacramento’s support for the Dallas Police Department, the Dallas transit police and the people of Dallas. While we need to make sure there are fair, independent and expedient investigations in St. Paul and Baton Rouge, we can never accept the senseless violence we witnessed last night.
In Sacramento, I have reached out to our police chief who is working diligently to ensure our men and women in uniform are protected from similar acts of violence as in Dallas, as well as continuing to implement recommendations from President Obama’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing and our Officer Next Door Program so that we do not see the tragedies of Ferguson, St. Paul, Baton Rouge and too many other communities fall on our great city.
Tonight Sacramento City Hall will be lit up in rainbow colors as we stand in solidarity with the LGBT community and the City of Orlando.
Sacramento mourns the victims of this morning's unspeakable attack and stands in support with the City of Orlando and the LGBT community. This senseless violence is outrageous and while the murderer may have taken lives, he did not take the resolve from all of us committed to ending acts of hate and gun violence.
Challenge accepted . Proud to do ten steps for and support !

You've probably heard plenty about convention delegates this year. On Sunday, from 2-3 p.m. ONLY at the McKinley Park Community Center, 601 Alhambra Blvd., you'll get the chance to vote for Sacramento's delegates. Would appreciate your stopping by and voting for Steven Maviglio, my campaign manager, and his slate of candidates. Just stop in, vote, and leave. Takes a minute!
Tolerance, peace, love and hope. These are the timeless values that the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has left as his legacy. On this day of service, let's all take a moment to practice what Dr. King preached, 'the time is always right to do what is right.' March on Sacramento!
If we are truly going to be a City that works for everyone, we can’t leave anyone behind. I want to commend Senate President Pro Tem De León and Former Senate President Pro Tem Steinberg for their leadership and Senator Huff and Senator Moorlach for their bipartisan support of the ‘No Place Like Home’ initiative. We have worked diligently in Sacramento to find viable solutions for our most vulnerable population and this measure will give the City more resources and flexibility to better serve homeless individuals and families.
