Today is National Pet Choking Prevention Day! Every year, more than 1 million dogs visit the vet for bully stick and chew incidents, but many of these vet visits are preventable. Being aware of what your dog is chewing on and taking quick action in cases of choking can help save your dog's life.

Remember Angus? He's now doing fantastic in his new home! His new family told us how well he's settled in and made friends with his new brother, Finny. They shared how impressed they were with Little Paws and how much we care for all the dogs that come through our doors, giving individualized treatment to each dog. For Angus, that looked like giving him the time to heal from his injuries and working with him to build his confidence on our agility course. He's now thriving with his new family and we couldn't be happier for him!

Today is National Heat Awareness Day. It's starting to heat up as we enter the summer here in California, so it's important we care for our pets as the temperature rises.
Here are some top tips from us:
+ Be careful walking in the heat of the sun. Put your hand on the sidewalk - if it's too hot to keep your hand on it, it's too hot for your dog's paws.
+ Senior dogs don't regulate their body temperature as well as younger dogs, so keep a careful eye on the older pups.
+Always make sure there is water available if your dog needs a quick drink to stay hydrated.
+ NEVER leave a dog in a hot car. Even a few minutes can be fatal.
+ Watch for signs of heat stroke e.g. vomiting, excessive panting, drooling, lethargy and take action quickly.
We hope you have a safe and fun summer!
