One year ago today, I photographed my first birth. It was a little guy named Sloan. He arrived via C-Section. I was a little nervous, but confident I could do this by myself and not have someone there to help guide me. The staff at Mansfield Methodist was absolutely the best. Nurses and Doctors were excited I was there and were more than helpful at helping me capture Sloans arrival. I remember being fascinated at the delivery process in the OR and found myself asking questions while I photographed the event. I will always remember that first birth. I will always remember the adrenaline rush. I will always remember the experience and knew this was something I was going to really enjoy. Here we are, a year and 59 births later. Each one special. Each one different from the one before. Each one with their own story. Birth photography is by far my favorite kind of photography and I look forward to each and every one.
GRAPHIC IMAGE: This birth was simply amazing in every way. Mom delivered her daughter vaginally, in a difficult breech presentation...unassisted by medical staff.
Her doula Abbey Robinson, was the reason this birth happened this way and not in the OR. This is the image I captured as Aria was making her grand entrance.
This image might be graphic for some. But, this is labor and delivery. This is birth and it is beautiful. Posted with moms permission.
