"My knowledge of that life is small,
The eye of faith is dim;
But ’tis enough that Christ knows all,
And I shall be with Him." [Richard Baxter]

In Bible times the Palm tree signified rest, shade and refreshment for desert travelers. Over the ages, palm branches became a symbol of victory. It was on that first Palm Sunday that people scattered palm branches along the road in celebration of Jesus' triumphal entry into the city of Jerusalem. In the apostle's vision of heaven (Revelation 7), John witnessed a great multitude of faithful Christians wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands. They cried out in a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” In New Testament times, palms have been placed on the tombs of faithful Christians to express their victory over death through Christ's resurrection (John 14:19).
