Summer often means pool days, lake trips, and adventures near the water. But not all dogs are natural swimmers, and even dogs who enjoy the water can find themselves in trouble.

Before heading out, take a moment to consider your dog's comfort level, swimming ability, and physical condition. Some dogs tire quickly, struggle to stay afloat, or may panic if they accidentally fall into deep water.

A properly fitted life jacket, close supervision, and easy access to an exit point can help keep water activities safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Safety isn't about avoiding fun—it's about setting our dogs up for success so they can enjoy the experience with confidence.

Does your dog love the water, prefer to stay on shore, or fall somewhere in between? Tell me below!

We often hear that dogs need more enrichment.
More walks. More activities. More training. More stimulation.

But sometimes, the missing piece isn’t more at all. It’s recovery.

Even positive experiences add to your dog’s overall load. Without enough downtime to process and reset, enrichment can quietly turn into overwhelm—especially for sensitive, reactive, or easily overstimulated dogs.

In this month’s Behavior Modification blog, I explore:
🐾 The difference between enrichment and overstimulation
🐾 Signs your dog may be carrying too much load
🐾 Why rest matters for behavior change
🐾 How balance supports calmer, more thoughtful responses

Sometimes progress comes from adding less, not more!
