imes a best-selling author writes a terrible letter, essay, or story. I don't always know what I'm going to write when I pick up my pen. The difference between a professional writer and someone who only dreams of writing, is this: a professional writer keeps going. We get anxious and judgmental while writing, but we keep going. In my course you'll learn how to get started on your book and how to keep going. You will be amazed at how the writing pours out of you on the first day and continues to flow evermore. Here's a little bit about me. I grew up in Oakland, California as a child of the Black Panther Party before leaving to study at Howard University and The Middlebury College School in France/ Université Sorbonne Nouvelle. After receiving my Master's in francophone language and literature, I returned home to pursue my passion for teaching. For 16 years, I led a trauma-informed practice as a high school teacher, new teacher support coach, and instructional trainer for cognitive behavioral interventions for trauma in schools. Best-selling author of _I Twirl in the Smoke_, I have performed, taught workshops, and spoken at Universidad de la Tierra and EDELO in Chiapas, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and San Francisco's Museum of African Diaspora. My poetry has been featured in international exhibitions of the Zapantera Negra Project and can be experienced today in the Oakland Museum's Black Power exhibition.
