We had another fun block of the month class tonight Local Republic and these ladies rocked it! Our next class will be August 10 and we would love for you to join us.

The garden is popping and I couldn’t be more excited. It won’t be long before I am harvesting ripe produce from all the plant babies I started so many months ago.

Turkey update: Our turkey has been pacing around the field all afternoon trying to find her nest. I didn’t have any luck getting her to find where I relocated the nest, so I ended up putting the eggs with developing embryos in the incubator and put the rest back in the spot where her nest was before they cut hay. Now she is sitting on them again. Not sure how long she will stay since the nest is now in the open and not protected by the tall grasses. We shall see…

While cutting hay near our in-ground garden, we discovered that our turkey has been sitting on a hidden nest of 18 eggs.

All this time, I thought she had been roosting up in the tree line behind the house. I never once saw her in or near the field.

It is absolutely amazing how well they blend in and hide. Nature never stops surprising me. Now I am hoping she will recognize the moved nest as hers and continue to sit on them. If not, they will end up in the incubator. 🦃🥚
