I’m so grateful to have returned to my beloved alma mater, , this weekend for the Women’s Impact Network annual leadership committee meeting.

WIN is a self-funded philanthropy group that advocates for women in STEM, specifically through grants to faculty, staff, and students at WPI. Over the past six years (since its inception), we've provided 90+ grants totaling $1.7 million.

I love being able to give back to a community that’s given me so much over the years and to help elevate the next generation of STEM leaders.

POV: it’s a Sunday and you just got home from a work trip to Canada. It was there that you realized the project you own probably won’t land on time unless you and your coworkers throw yourselves into it fully for a week. So, you and a peer hop on a 14+9 hour flight to Sydney on Thursday (four days later) to meet up with a few other Sydney based folks. You work hard during the day, getting all of your goals met plus some, AND you have an amazing adventure exploring the city along the way. 🇦🇺

I would say IYKYK, but honestly we should all know…
•
Ada Lovelace - the OG, or should I say original programmer. She created the first algorithm to be carried out by a machine.

Jean Bartik - an original programmer for ENIAC. Helped develop the fundamentals of programming.
•
Grace Hopper - Not just the conference. She was a pioneer of computer programming and helped popularize the idea of machine independent programming languages.
•
Margaret Hamilton - the computer scientist that led the team which developed the onboard software for the Apollo Space Program.
•
These women contributed massively - not only to technology - but to society as well.
