A few years back, I led creative retreats. My opening exercise for participants was simple. Colored pencils and paper. I’d have them ground into the present moment. Then with an open heart, acknowledge how they are feeling. Then ask, what color is that feeling? What shape is that feeling? What texture is that feeling?
Well, here is what I’m feeling.

I’ve been saving inspiring art reels on Instagram and I decided on this very rainy day to sit down and play. Do you do that very often? I’ve not done it much in a long while, I’m sad to say. So long, in fact, that I kept getting distracted from my art desk - oh the laundry - let me just hang up this shirt - the bathroom mirror really needs to be cleaned. Sound familiar? Why am I so hesitant to just be - before my art supplies and inspiration ideas - and play.

But I’m happy that I pushed away the distractions and explored my creative side. It’s been way too long. I feel most me when creating. Even silly little paintings like these.
