Finding a Kidney for Jenn
Today marks the one year of my kidney and pancreas transplant. I am filled with a mix of emotions as I reflect on my journey. I was a type one diabetic for 23 years and had end-stage kidney failure at the age of 27. I underwent 4 years and 10 months of dialysis, but remained positive, had patience, and I always appreciated life no matter what I was going through.
I received several calls for possible transplants, the first one was hard but not like the one I had that involved me heading to the hospital to hear that there was something wrong with the organs. I felt down for about 2 days. I got myself right back up. I also had the support of loved ones.I can't remember how many calls I had in those 4 years almost 5 years of dialysis, but I do remember that last call Wednesday, May 17 2023.
I am thankful for my transplant and honor the memory of the donor, promising to make the most of this healthy second chance at life. Organ donors are heroes.💚
Had a busy day yesterday so I forgot to post on here. Yesterday January 17 was 8 months since my kidney and pancreas transplant. Had an appointment with the nephrologist yesterday and everything is looking great. Today is a special day not only because it's my birthday but because it's my first birthday with a healthier lifestyle. I am beyond thankful. See you guys next month with more updates.
