Moose’s new family really lucked out with this good boy. I don’t know if you saw his “dog test” video but he has the patience of a saint. Shout out to Rockingham County Animal Shelter-Reidsville, NC for sending us this angel!
They’re keeping the name Moose, which is lovely because that was actually his original name before he was surrendered to the shelter.

Our foster puppies Marmalade, Munster, Gruyère, and Gouda had the best time at the Spring Fling: Presented by Unleashed!
The adults dogs at the end are alumni of our program! We were absolutely delighted to see recently adopted Oscar Asparagus! Normally we do not recommend taking recently adopted dogs out in public for the first two weeks, but Oscar has been settling in really well to his new home and we thought he could handle it so I invited him. I’m so glad I did because he had the best time!
Board member Sarah adopted the black dog Digby from me (Jean) 5 years ago and he’s the best dog so when her mom Marcia wanted a dog naturally she wanted to adopt a good dog from us! The little white girl Gracie (formerly Ava) was one of our first good dogs! She is so treasured by her mom, and rightly so. Gracie couldn’t be sweeter. 💕
I’m actually not sure if the dog at the end is available for adoption. 🤷

Remember Sullivan the “Schnauzer-Chihuahua mix” who was surrendered to us at the end of December? We were told he was six weeks old, but it turned out that he was 3 to 4 weeks old and had to be bottle fed. We just got his DNA test results back. Swipe to the last image to see his breed mix. He happens to be made up of his adopter’s two favorite breeds!!

Guess who got adopted (for the second time)?! Bleu! This time we think it’s going to stick. His new family is thrilled.
Sometimes folks really don’t know what to expect when adopting a puppy. Everyone is told puppies are a lot of work, but you can’t always understand the full commitment until you’re living it. Bleu is actually a really easy puppy, but he still needs extra time outside to make sure he goes potty and sometimes whines a little bit in the crate initially. That’s perfectly normal!
We are so excited for Bleu and his new family! He’s going to be so loved. 💕

Oscar Asparagus came to us with a badly infected eye that ruptured necessitating its removal, but he doesn’t let that slow him down! Initially he was constantly bumping into things, but now he’s figuring out how to operate with only one eye.
He is a little Shih Tzu with a huge personality! Oscar adores other dogs, loves to play, and is obsessed with butt rubs! Sometimes he tries to get other dogs to rub his butt with rather disappointing results. You wouldn’t believe it, but Oscar enjoys running with his foster mom. They only run a mile with plenty of sniff breaks, but still pretty impressive for a 13 pound Shih Tzu!
Oscar Asparagus is pictured in this trashcan because when we first got him, he looked like something you'd find in a rubbish bin. On top of the terrible eye infection, he was horribly emaciated, and had an abscess between his eyes. Now he’s all fixed up and ready to find the loving home he deserves.

How cute is adoptable Marmalade enjoying the spring weather? She’s 11 weeks old and is looking for a home!
If she doesn’t get adopted soon, she will be at the Spring Fling: Presented by Unleashed April 26 at the Koka Booth Amphitheater.
Oscar Asparagus has had a rough time so it’s no wonder he feels the need to arm himself.
He came to us starving, with an eye that needed immediate removal, and an abscess that went to his skull. He had no concept of potty training.
Now he’s a happy, healthy young man who enjoys walks, playing with other dogs, treats, short jogs and is even potty trained! Apply to adopt Oscar at https://new.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/AGD-A-17
Here he’s “helping” me make bandanas for our booth at the Spring Fling: Presented by Unleashed! What would I do without him?!
