Summer is when fireplaces go from heat source to focal point.

Since you won’t be lighting it, treat it like built-in art or shelving.

5 ways to style it for summer:

1. Clean it out + open it up
Sweep ashes, clean the firebox, and leave the damper closed so cool air doesn’t escape

2. Go green with plants
- *Ferns or snake plants* in the firebox love the cool, shady spot
- *Eucalyptus or olive branches* in a tall vase on the hearth for height
- *Potted herbs* if your mantel gets good light

3. Add candles for glow without heat.
Cluster pillar candles of different heights inside the firebox. Use flameless LED ones if you have kids/pets. You get that cozy fireplace feel, minus the sweat.

4. Summer mantel styling
Swap heavy winter decor for lighter textures:
- Large mirror or bright art to bounce light
- Woven baskets, ceramics, driftwood
- Stack of coffee table books + a small vase of fresh flowers
Think “airy” not “cozy cabin”.

5. Furniture Placement : Now you place accent chairs in front of the fireplace making it look like a backdrop, with a coffee table in the middle.
