Saturday morning neighborhood runs have a been a tradition for Hau and her friends as a way to find joy exploring nooks and crannies, and I’m always glad when I’m invited. The unexpected joys this morning included the jeepney mural at Fernwood Park, Alberta Alley, and meeting a CASA at breakfast.
A CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocate, is a volunteer that advocates for the best interest of children on abuse and neglect cases. He remembered that I had sworn him in. 🙂
You never know who you’ll meet in the community and CASAs play such an important role in the juvenile justice system. To all the CASAs, thank you for all that you do!

Had the pleasure of reconnecting with Pastor Mark Knutson (Augustana Church) at the Reunion celebrating 40 years! Pastor Knutson and I were part of the Juvenile Justice Collaboration Lab cohort. I’m in awe of the ALF network and their contributions to uplifting communities across Oregon.
