It's concert day! Join us tonight for an evening of rarely-performed early Renaissance gems. We've worked hard to put this incredible music together, and we're eager to share it with you.

This is the Kyrie from Guillaume Dufay's "Missa se la face ay pale." Despite it being arguably one of his most famous works, even diehard fans of early music don't get a chance to hear it live very often. Be one of the lucky ones!

This Saturday, we present "Music from the Burgundian Court." We've been rehearsing all week and the music is really starting to come alive. Music from this time is rarely performed, so it's sure to be a real treat to experience it in person.

Here's a clip of the intimate and impassioned "Amours mercy" by Gilles Binchois (c.1400–1460), a chanson in which the singer is compelled and commanded by the love they feel for another. What drama!

We hope you'll join us for this special concert this weekend! Link to tickets in our bio ✨

Today, help Evenstar grow! 🌱

With our first two concerts, "Tapestry" and "Echoes of Spain," we've introduced our vision: to bring Renaissance polyphony to life with authenticity and emotional resonance.

"Music for the Burgundian Court" is just around the corner in early 2026, and we're now entering the next phase of this journey: building and sustaining momentum.

Every bit of your support moves us forward. Thank you for believing in us, and in our vision.

Warmly,
John, Jen, & Alex ✨

One week out, and after months of planning, we've begun rehearsals for Tapestry, the first concert of our inaugural season.

Here's a clip from our first read of Portuguese composer Vicente Lusitano's setting of "Regina caeli." As one of our singers said to the group afterward, "this is going to be SO GOOD, I'm so excited to sing this music!"

Join us next weekend to hear the works of nine different Renaissance composers who collectively span over 170 years and five geographical regions!

Our founders had an incredible time on the course in Àvila, Spain last week, singing polyphony by Victoria, Morales, Lobo, and Guerrero. One of the most special parts of this course was getting to sing in some of the very places where these composers worked.

Stay tuned for our season 1 announcement, coming soon!

That's a wrap on "Echoes of Spain!"

A few big thank yous: to our amazing audience who showed up to hear us sing; to all of our founding donors who helped make this first concert possible, to for welcoming us into their gorgeous space and all their volunteers for ushering and running a beautiful reception afterward; to our wonderful front-of-house volunteers for handling ticketing; to Branic Howard for his audio recording wizardry; and lastly, to our singers for their artistry and collaboration on this first project:
