If you followed my stories last week you know about the bees, and my freak out turned no big deal transition.
Long story short for the rest of you…
I caught these bees in the act of moving their hive; scouting a new spot in my backyard and moving themselves in. At first glance I thought it was a plague straight from Egypt via Moses with the sheer number of bees swarming in the yard.
I called my husband to ask what to do. I kept the kids inside and alerted the neighbor. Then I watched.
Within minutes - maybe even less than I can count on my fingers 90% of them were huddled together protecting their queen.
It wasn’t a plague or a backyard take over but rather, just moving day.
Google told me to stand down. My friends with bee knowledge confirmed and recommended a swarm removal hotline.
No biggie.
How quickly I went from an oh 💩 plague level alert to 🤷♀️ the beekeeper will be here tomorrow.
We do that don’t we? Catastrophize without getting all the info. Or sometimes gathering up too much info without a professional opinion. WebMD anyone? Or maybe you crowd source a thought before really spending time reflecting on it individually. The mental energy that we waste could be saved to battle another day.
What’s the difference between plague and casual bee swarm hotline?
I think it’s a pause. Maybe a prayer too. It’s a deep breath before your mind jumps the gun off to the races.
Practicing my pauses this week.
