Whether I’m working directly with an author or for a publisher, my favorite editing projects involve scholarly writers who have clear research trajectories and really want to influence thinking in their fields and beyond. Clients tell me that my editing—especially on the substantive and developmental levels—elevates their manuscripts to the point where their writing is actually working for them. Honored to write this review of Dan Sinykin's Big Fiction for H-Net's forum on scholarly communications. Stimulating in itself, this book is also great fodder for further contemplation: Here I focus on applications for publishing curricula and on conglomeration's implications for editorial work.
