Wildlings Forest
Evening feed time at Wildlings is never exactly calm 😅
In this video I’m trying to get everyone fed while being crowded by alpacas, pigs, and one very enthusiastic 800-pound Gertie. If it looks like I’m jumping away from her, it’s not because she’s being aggressive at all, Gertie is truly one of the gentlest souls here. She’s a total lovebug, and I’ve spent plenty of quiet moments curled up with her in her stall, scratching her belly, resting my head on her during storms, and just enjoying her company.
But when dinner is involved… she turns into a fast-moving little tractor. 🚜💨 And when you weigh 800 pounds, even innocent excitement can be a lot. She has stepped on my foot before and I genuinely thought it might be broken, so these days I try to be smart and give her a little extra space when she’s extra hungry. 😂
Because her dinner gets mixed with water, I can’t just toss it over the fence and run, I actually have to get in there and deliver it while everyone crowds around me demanding their turn. So yes, this video is a little chaotic, a little silly, and a very real look at what evening feed time can feel like around here.
Just a gentle giant, a hungry herd, and me trying not to get flattened on dinner duty. 💚
Edgar was feeling pretty over today 🥵 but the second I stopped to give him some scratches, he melted into a little rolly polly and rolled right over. 🥹🐷
Even on the hottest days, this sweet guy still knows how to soak up the love. 💚
