Trying something a little different with the jets flying out from PDX this week. Panning these fast jets with such a slow shutter speed is HARD. 🥲
Out of 400 images here are a couple that turned out okay.
Photos were shot between 1/30 and 1/80th of a second, f/8.0 ISO 100.

From the 2026 Hillsboro Airshow. Lots to learn but probably the biggest is 'if you think 2500/sec shutter speed is fast enough bump it up to much crazier numbers'!!
This is the F-35A which is the newest 5th-gen fighter that is set to eventually replace the A-10 and F-16, as the primary fighter aircraft for the Air Force. The F-35A first flew in 2006, and after several more years of modifications, the Air Force declared it operationally ready in 2016.
In the Air Force, fighter aircraft are a means of securing the skies, and in the Navy, they are a means of protecting the fleet. But in the Marine Corps, fighters (and everything else) exist to help on the ground through reconnaissance, strike missions and close air support.
