The foundation for my anti racist praxis is understanding that our work together begins with relationship. That’s why I like to send handwritten cards to my clients, because there’s something special about the tangible, personalized card that was sent via snail mail. It is an intentional act of slowing down and connection. It is a small act of defiance to go slow when white supremacy culture demands urgency.

It’s also an opportunity to write with my fountain pen (my newest pandemic hobby), which is helping me enjoy the act of writing as well. Even though I invariably make mistakes, I feel the imperfections are just another reminder of my humanity, and I hope that allows clients to show up more fully human as we work together.
