Thank you and for talking about this and highlighting the difficulties this wonderful industry is still going through. Be kind to your favorite small businesses out there folks. There’s so much happening behind the scenes that businesses deal with. Beyond the obvious economic, tourism, and everyone’s general financial issues there are more surprises always lurking.

Just for some context I want to share a couple of those surprises that we here have had over the last few months. The state of Louisiana made an error on their end and mistakenly put a levee on our account for over 4K. One of our loan companies made an error and withdrew over 7k in one day from our account. Both of these issues eventually got resolved but had very real effects on us and our business that took weeks to recover from. They also happened at the beginning of and in the middle of the summer slowdown. Margins are tight, especially over this past summer, and things like this are brutal. There is no recourse for a business and we only get an, “We’re so sorry about this error and we hope it didn’t have too much of an impact on your business.”

We can all help our community by supporting the local businesses we love. Everyone I know in many different industries are going through it in some way.
