New Partnership Alert!!! Bybee Lakes Hope Center!!!

We were honestly a little worried that only a few people might come out… but 25 people joined us for our very first walk and run together!

We had all levels of fitness, a few youngsters, and so many amazing humans simply celebrating movement and community. One participant using a walker kept saying, “I’m doing it, I’m doing it!”

The kids led the walk with Izzy today, and they were the BEST little run leaders ever. They’re already excited to have us back on Friday.

For those who don’t know, Bybee Lakes Hope Center in Portland is a shelter and transitional housing community serving people experiencing homelessness, including families, LGBTQI+ individuals, and people in recovery. Today was our first time taking families, including children, out for walks and runs together, and it felt really special.

One woman asked if we might help them get a juicer someday because they have a garden, and some residents don’t have teeth but still want to enjoy the vegetables they grow. She said she was “planting the seed.” So we’re carrying her message forward.

A huge thank you to Lauren and our Right to Run friends for helping us to make this happen. Also, Lauren, the girl with the water bottle, says she likes pink shoes!

GTD is feeling incredibly grateful to provide this service through the support of our community. Sponsors, partners, and people who believe in what we do make this possible.

Every person deserves to be seen, supported, and reminded that change is possible. When we show up for one another, incredible things can happen.

Together, we’re igniting recovery through movement and proving that no one has to walk their journey alone.
