Some people just seem miserable... because they are.
Because suffering is what happens when their focus is on what other people are doing wrong instead of turning toward their own pain, being gently present with what hurts, giving themselves the space to fully feeling it, getting curious about their own patterns, and taking responsibility for their role in their relationships and ongoing patterns.
When everything is everyone else's fault, you put yourself in a really disempowered and fragile place.
It means your happiness depends on the whim of people around you, instead of doing the work to become your own grounded, stable, secure center.
Yes, this life is full of painful moments.
Of unfairness, loss, inequality, and unexpected setbacks.
Sometimes it just sucks.
And if you don't do the work to learn how to meet yourself in these moments and process these experiences, you will struggle.
We do want other people to be able to show up for us,
and no one is going to be able to do that perfectly all the time.
When people expect others to be superhuman and don't take responsibility for their hurt or feelings —
that might be a sign that firmer boundaries are necessary.
If you're working on becoming your own secure, stable base - my new book, The Wisdom of Feeling is incredibly helpful. It'll help you meet yourself with compassion, awareness, and understanding first, which will ripple out into every area of your life.

Have you ever heard the expression, “new level, new devil?”
That’s what it means when you feel like you’ve gotten comfortable at your current stage of life, so you begin stepping into your next dream or goal and are met with insecurity, doubt, fear, and discomfort all over again.
It can feel really uncomfortable and even frustrating —
“I’ve already dealt with this!”
But with each new level of growth, comes new challenges.
New stretches. New things to learn, to develop a relationship with, and new boundaries to explore.
These feelings of discomfort and doubt don’t necessarily mean it’s not for you —
They might be a mirror showing you where you have some expansion work to do.
Can you let yourself be seen?
Can you let the light in?
Can you soften your guard and play in the present and just see what happens?
Give yourself time and support. You’ll get there.
And speaking of new levels — my first book, “The Wisdom of Feeling” comes out TOMORROW!!
