"In The New Normal"

In the new normal
Trying to find a way
Chaos and commotion
It seems every day

Looking for a balance
Seems to be depleted
Trying to win a fight
Already been defeated

Drifting in and out
Feeling up and down
Need a rubber room
Medication and a gown

Hoping to find a place
Not sure that it exists
To make up all the things
All that I have missed

A constant adjustment
It's a rollercoaster ride
In the new normal
I've already died.

All that matters.

What does love mean to you
Does it even really exist
Are there certain qualifications
Instructions or a list

Should it be reciprocated
Acknowledged in some way
Screamed from the rooftop
Vocalized every day

Kept on the down low
Without any recognition
Not a sign or a signal
Without hint or suspicion

Lost before it's found
Without a chance to grow
All on its own
No place to go

Is it somehow controllable
Can you turn it off and on
What does love mean to you
Blink and it's gone.
