Imagine our surprise when surfing around on Tubi for something cool to watch (of which Tubi has so many wonderful cool forgotten low budget gems) we stumbled upon "Rockabilly Vampire" by Lee Bennett Sobel. We had forgotten that we contributed to the film soundtrack and really had forgotten about it entirely until discovering it was available on TUBI. "OH YEAH!!! THAT THING!" Now...coming in at 3.9 stars out of 10 according to viewer ratings some people really seem to enjoy this campy low budget vampire flick and have decided it's awful in the best of ways while others just can't.... One thing is for sure you will never know until you check it out yourself and we remember having lots of our friend's bands on the soundtrack as well. Our advice is if you don't get your hopes too high going in you might come out unscathed. It's the hope that kills ya! Search it out if you dare and see if our leading lady "Iris" can find true love with a Rockabilly vampire who has a self loathing problem or will she have to settle for the eager and available if somewhat unauthentic "Beatle Boy?" We remember Patsy Cline on the 63rd anniversary of the plane crash that took her, Hawshaw Hawkins, Cowboy Copas and pilot/manager Randy Hughes. This is a photo of Dave paying his respects to Virginia Dick circa 1993 in the days before GPS and the evils of the internet at her final resting place outside of Wi******er, Virginia simply because PATSY CLINE IS THE SH*T!

Here's a photo taken by our pal Garrett Jensen back in the day at what might be the legendary Fireside Bowl.

An oldie but a goodie. Doing "stuff" early/mid 1990's.

It is with some sadness we have learned of the passing of Pittsburgh Pirates pitching legend Elroy Face. How this ties into Three Blue Teardrops is an odd factoid because Elroy’s heyday as a pitcher and 1960 World Series winner in Major League Baseball was well before our time as a band or even existence upon this earth for the most part. When Dave was 12 growing up in Pittsburgh he attended a neighbor’s BBQ party with some pickin' going on and met a nice gentleman who played a Fender Telecaster named “Roy.” Roy was kind and noticed Dave’s fascination with his guitar and asked if Dave would like to look at it and hold it. “Yes please” was the answer and with that Dave held his first ever REAL guitar and began to try to sound out the Luther Perkins’ notes on Johnny Cash’s “I walk the Line” that was playing on the radio. Impressed by Dave’s quick ear Roy asked if Dave would like to learn a few chords? “Yes please” was the response and with that Roy showed Dave his first 3 chords (A, D & E). Later Dave discovered this fella he met “Roy” who had shown him his first 3 guitar chords was none other than Pittsburgh Pirates pitching legend Elroy Face. Rest In Peace Roy and thanks for the guitar lesson. If you only knew what you started?

Is it a zoom? Is it a boom? Is it mood or is it rude? Is it Cadillac Jack or just some feedback?

Once upon a time Dave toured on and off with Andre Williams as a lead guitarist. Andre was a wild man and loose canon who's biggest monetary success was writing "Shake A Tail Feather" for the Five Du-Tones (later hits for Ray Charles, Ike and Tina Turner and James and Bobby Purify) and for a time had some minor hits on Fortune Records in Detroit before much later becoming addicted to substances and homeless and living on the streets of Chicago. One day when "Sluggo" (far right back row) ran into him while on his way to his construction job and Andre was panhandling for cash and Sluggo not knowing who he was refused to give him any money for nothing. Andre offered to sing for some cash and after he started Sluggo said, "Man...you sound just like Andre Williams!" and Andre said, "That's because I AM ANDRE WILLIAMS MOTHERF**KER!!!" And with that Sluggo and Skipper (of Pravda Records) collaborated to engineer an Andre Williams show biz comeback which roped Dave in for a few years of zaniness which included Andre's day drinking and the band getting "fired" countless times every day before mellowing out on "Greasy Chicken." Unfortunately Andre and Sluggo have passed beyond this mortal coil now but this photographic evidence exists taken in the green room under the Empty Bottle in Chicago. Andre Williams' tunes "Bacon Fat" and "Ja****it" should be required listening for everyone.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Hayden Thompson who had some cool rockabilly hits on Sun Records and a string of solid honkytonkin' country numbers in the early 1960's. We were fans as can be seen in this clip of us backing our pal Al Simon in 2019. RIP Hayden.
