Pittsburgh is ready for the Draft and so is our building!
AIA Pittsburgh’s windows are dressed for the occasion as we welcome the crowds downtown this week.
A few fun facts about the design of our home field, Acrisure Stadium (Heinz Field in our hearts):
– Designed by Architect-of-Record HOK Sport+Venue+Entertainment (now Populous), along with local firm WTW Architects (now AE Works) in 2001, the stadium is a tribute to Pittsburgh’s industrial legacy, featuring over 12,000 tons of exposed steel
– Renovations in 2015 opened up the south end, creating iconic views of the skyline and riverfront and connecting the city directly to the game-day experience
– The natural grass playing surface is heated from below the field, keeping the grass growing year round
– The stadium features a sea of 68,400 Steelers-yellow seats, which have sold out for most Steelers home games since opening
Stop by and take a look if you're downtown this weekend and remember how design shows up everywhere, game days included!

The City of Pittsburgh Comprehensive Plan (PGH2050) is back in action and stepping into its next phase. The Department of City Planning is hosting Community Meetings through the end of April to ensure the Preferred Land Use Direction aligns with bold and equitable community goals for the coming decades.
During these sessions, attendees will learn about the plan's progress and help refine Pittsburgh's future geography of housing, economic opportunity, mobility, and resilient infrastructure.
Attend one or more of the upcoming community meetings near you to learn about the Preferred Land Use Direction, and provide input on what you think is most important to address over the next 25 years. Share what you think is right for the City at large, but also specifically for your neighborhood.
