Recently, our SWAT Leader, Ms. Van Alstine has been recognized for her commitment to Sahuarita School's health and fitness visions. She will be honored at The 40 under 40 Breakfast Celebration hosted by the Arizona Daily Star and the Tucson Hispanic Chamber hosted at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort.

'She (Ms. Van Alstine) has been the sponsor for the Student Wellness and Advocacy Team (SWAT) at Anza Trail and worked with students on “making wise decisions about smoking and other harmful habits.”
SUSD spokeswoman Amber Woods, in nominating Van Alstine, wrote, “Van Alstine … has mentored students to become civically engaged and to help them develop social, civic, and cultural responsibility.”
Sahuarita’s Parks and Rec Commission voted in August to ban smoking at all public parks after being approached by students.'
We are very proud of Ms. Van Alsitne for her accomplishments and her active role leading the SWAT Team.
