The transaction involving the Bland family’s donated land in Taylor, Texas, has triggered intense public outrage and a bitter legal battle over public trust. As uncovered in a report by 404 Media, local farmer Charles Bland and his family originally deeded nearly 88 acres of land in July 1999 to a public trust for a symbolic $10 fee, explicitly stipulating in the legal deed that it “be held in trust for future use as parkland.” However, after passing through multiple government and nonprofit entities over the decades, the Taylor Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) ultimately sold 53 acres of that tract to developer Blueprint Projects for $10 million in 2025 to make way for a massive 135,000-square-foot AI data center campus.

Local residents and the Bland family have fiercely opposed the development, arguing that the city completely betrayed the donor’s original intent to ensure neighborhood children always had “somewhere to play.” Longtime residents—particularly Black families whose homes sit just 500 feet from the construction site—expressed shock at losing their generational community green space to an industrial, high-voltage processing facility. While city officials argue the data center will generate a massive $30 million in local tax revenue over the next decade, the Bland family’s lawsuit to halt construction was dismissed by a judge, prompting disgruntled community members to escalate their fight to an appeals court.

The viral internet joke that Canada has “no idea” it is co-hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup stems from the country’s surprisingly quiet, nonchalant approach to marketing the tournament. While the United States and Mexico have launched massive, high-energy media blitzes, the general atmosphere across Canada has remained distinctively subdued, leading to waves of satirical social media posts mocking the country’s casual attitude. International soccer fans took the joke global after a FOX Sports commercial featuring soccer legend Zlatan Ibrahimović showed him checking a list of host nations and reacting with sheer, speechless bewilderment to Canada’s name.

Christopher Scarver, the inmate who fatally beat serial k*ller Jeffrey Dahmer at the Columbia Correctional Institution in 1994, confirmed that Dahmer’s unsettling behavior with his food was a primary reason for the attack. In a revealing interview with the New York Post, Scarver—who has struggled with severe schizophrenia—explained that Dahmer would regularly mold his prison meals into the shapes of severed limbs and body parts. Dahmer would then use packets of ketchup to simulate blood, placing these macabre food sculptures around the prison to deliberately taunt and terrify other inmates and guards.

Scarver stated that Dahmer’s lack of remorse and bizarre antics deeply crossed the line, ultimately driving him to take lethal action. On November 28, 1994, while the two men and a third inmate, Jesse Anderson, were left unsupervised while cleaning the prison gym, Scarver confronted Dahmer about his grotesque food pranks before striking him with a metal bar. Scarver, who believed he was acting on orders from God due to his mental illness, k*lled both men and was subsequently sentenced to multiple additional life terms in maximum-security isolation.

Actress Sharon Stone recently revealed that her then-husband, called her decision to undergo a double mastectomy “ridiculous” and stormed out of the room during a severe breast cancer scare. Speaking on David Begnaud’s podcast, The Person Who Believed in Me, Stone recalled that in 2001, doctors discovered massive breast tumors, including one larger than her entire left breast. Because doctors warned her that the severe growths were likely cancerous, Stone firmly decided on a preventive bilateral mastectomy, telling her husband, “I am deciding that I will have a bilateral because I’m not fu***ng around.” Bronstein became furious, focused heavily on the loss of her breasts rather than the life-threatening cancer risk, and walked out on the medical consultation.

Stone stated that her husband’s toxic reaction and lack of emotional support instantly marked the permanent end of their marriage right there in the room. When Bronstein left, her doctor turned and defended her choice, telling him, “If I had more patients like her, we’d have more women alive today. You need to sit down.” Stone stood her ground, declaring that she alone controlled her body, which prompted Bronstein to check out of the relationship completely before they officially divorced in 2004. Fortunately, subsequent testing revealed that the massive tumors were completely benign; while Stone still required surgery to safely remove the growths, she ultimately did not have to undergo the full double mastectomy.
