March 3rd is International S*x Worker Rights Day. The day originated in 2001 when over 25,000 s*x workers gathered in India for a s*x worker festival.
Despite efforts from prohibitionist groups who tried to prevent it taking place by pressuring the government to revoke their permit.
The organizers, Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee, a Calcutta based group whose membership consists of somewhere upwards of 50,000 s*x workers and members of their communities.
S*x worker groups across the world have subsequently celebrated 3 March as International S*x Workers' Rights Day.
