Disease prevention begins with a happy, balanced “gut”, from top to bottom. Healthy food is the best preventative medicine, but a healthy lifestyle with quality sleep, exercise, socializing and relaxation are also major contributors to overall well being!
Wow, my son Luke absolutely crushed it with this deep dive on the skin-gut connection and acne! I was seriously impressed — it’s long, but packed with so much valuable info. He really nailed it. I’m so proud of you, Luke! You’re a natural, and I might just have to hand over the page to you. You rock!
Luke explains how gut health impacts skin inflammation and acne, and he’s spot on. Of course you know what I would add — dairy, especially cow’s milk, is a major trigger for a lot of people as it contains hormones and inflammatory agents that can irritate the gut and show up as acne. Beyond what he covered, high-glycemic foods like sugary snacks, refined carbs, and even some processed foods can spike insulin and worsen breakouts. On the flip side, omega-3 rich foods like salmon, flaxseeds, and walnuts can help calm inflammation and support clearer skin. Zinc-rich foods like pumpkin seeds are also great for balancing hormones and reducing acne. And yes, probiotics can be a game-changer for balancing the gut microbiome and improving skin from the inside out.
Everyone’s gut is unique, so results vary, but this video is a fantastic starting point.
