Founded in 1998 by Jimmy MacNeal, Bulldog Bikes (@bdg_worldwide) was an NYC-based BMX brand that catered to all walks of BMX, from race to street to trails to flatland to ramps. Featuring unique frames with square tubing on the back end, Bulldogs were instantly recognizable, and because of the stacked team, Bulldog had a moment in the spotlight where they were firing on all cylinders, appearing in videos, magazines, and comps throughout the U.S. Owner Jimmy Mac even made it the cover of Black Enterprise Magazine in the year 2000. Originally hailing from the race scene, Jimmy Mac was one of the first riders to connect BMX with the hip-hop scene, and his work pioneered the idea of connecting urban brand and consumers with the world of action sports. As a BMX mentor and brand owner, Jimmy sponsored some truly memorable names in BMX including @Brad_Simms, @tjellis_, @shanazereade, @brant_moore, @realdrjrich, @ObaDeveloped, @MikeBrennan, @emmettcrooms, @skinnywashere, and Marlon Europe. (And this is only a small sampling of riders that repped Bulldog back in the day.) These days, Jimmy Mac runs @unionsquareco, an action sports footwear and clothing brand with NYC roots.
