1-3) 8/1 7:30PM at Studio 34: Grex, Ashé Mystics & 90eeze Grex is an art rock/experimental music duo based out of Oakland, Ca that explores the meeting point between surreal songcraft and the dark outer reaches of experimental music. The Ashé Mystics create a world of sound with electronic circuitry, improv and percussive underpinnings. 90eeze is a spiritual improvisors collaborative, "a mixture of Flying Luttenbachers, John Zorn, Ascension-era John Coltrane influences, and maybe a little bit of Black MIDI".- Midbrow

4-6) 8/12 7:30PM at The Perch: Ishmael Ali/Will Greene/Lily Finnegan Trio, Will McGoran/Sam Xiao Cody & Crowmeat Bob/Ian McColm The Ishmael Ali, Will Greene & Lily Finnegan Trio are an ensemble defined by restlessness and sonic curiosity, this improbable improvising trio rides the edge between sonorous melodies, atonal outbursts, and tilted grooves — creating music that feels both elemental and unpredictable. Sam Xiao Cody (violin) and Will McGoran (prepared electric guitar) play with various Philadelphia-based groups across genres. Crowmeat Bob plays guitar and reeds, composes for many different kinds of ensembles, Ian G. McColm is a multi-instrumentalist, improviser and composer

7) 8/15 4PM at Atonement: Sruti Sarathy & Sumesh Narayanan Sruti Sarathy is a rare artist who possesses both mastery in the rigorous classical form as well as a boundary-pushing musical vision. Trained in the renowned Lalgudi style of Carnatic violin, Sruti has accompanied leading Carnatic musicians. Sumesh Narayanan's prominence in the realm of Carnatic percussion is extraordinary, distinguishing himself as one of the most exceptional and highly sought-after artists of the present generation

8) 8/22 6PM at Eakins Oval Minifest. Grupo Sumak de Philadelphia is a tropical psychedelic band made up of six musicians from six different Latin American countries, bringing together six migration stories that intersect in Philadelphia, where the project was formed. They play psychedelic cumbia inspired by Peru's chicha tradition.
