Lucas Grindley

chief of The Advocate, the longest running LGBTQ magazine in the country. In both 2016 and 2018, NLGJA named Grindley as “LGBT Journalist of the Year" with its Sarah Pettit Memorial Award. Grindley led coverage at The Advocate through two Supreme Court decisions on marriage equality, the Pulse tragedy in Orlando, and he helmed The Advocate during its 50th year anniversary. In 2014, he led a GLAAD-Award winning series that raised awareness about PrEP by publishing a new story on Advocate.com every day for 31 consecutive days. Grindley’s stories and columns for The Advocate magazine always lend a compelling voice for equality, and he won Best Column Writing from NLGJA. Grindley came to Pride Media in 2011 from Washington, D.C., where he was managing editor for online at National Journal magazine, covering politics and policy making during the 2008 election and President Obama's first term. Grindley was married in Washington, D.C. on the very spot where the district’s marriage equality law was signed, and he now lives in Woodstock, NY with his husband and twin daughters. Grindley is a graduate of University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and a certificate in Leadership.
