Schools today are falling short in teaching literacy, facing various challenges both situational and systemic. Having worked across different school types post my tenure at the School District of Philadelphia in 2022, I’ve observed similar obstacles and achievement gaps everywhere. It’s not just about access or districts; nationwide, many students are struggling with reading, and grades or standardized tests don’t paint the full picture.
If you suspect your child is struggling, chances are they are, and ignoring it won’t make it better, especially as they grow older. There are numerous tutoring options available, but if you seek a highly qualified reading specialist with extensive classroom experience, consider contacting the Lightbulb Learning Center. I am looking for college students, majoring in elementary education- local to Philadelphia, who are looking for advanced opportunities to grow their skills as an educator. We provide authentic learning experiences that can’t and won’t be learned in undergrad. Some people take years to gain the skills we will be sharpening with this paid apprenticeship.
