In Color Birding Club

Two hours of peace, nature, fresh air, joy, smiles, and sunlight. Our Juneteenth weekend bird outing was lovely. We had some brand new birders who blessed us with their attendance and we did our best to make sure birding was an activity they look to do again. We logged about 24 species and did a lot of birding by ear. There were some sneaky orioles and warblers that made us work for it. Folks got some good time with a few dieting Wood Thrush which was a treat. For sure all of us enjoying the outdoors in ways our ancestors dreamed about was certainly special and hopefully honors their dreams for us in a meaningful way.

We look forward to having this event annually along with similar outings focused on folks that share Black ancestry in our communities. ✊🏽❤️
