This is the cover for the 4th book in my Christian Western series, An Autumn of Violets! Since I went into the new year with the plan of publishing two books in 2026, I decided I would try to design AAoV's cover myself to save on expense. I'd designed book covers before, and they looked a little cheap. This time, since I had commissioned artwork for the first three books in the series and I've seen what others have done in this genre, I figured I would try designing again.

My main takeaway with book cover designs: less is often times more. I used to try to fit the whole theme of the story on the book cover, but that just doesn't work. And I'm not saying I will never commission book cover art ever again, but for this year (and maybe for the rest of The Cables Series), I may resort to designing the book covers myself.
