Forever Musical
"Forever" explores the price of that wish through a powerful score and a story about ambition, legacy, and the moment someone realizes forever might not be what they imagined.
Barry has loved “Ragtime” for decades, but this revival completely exceeded his expectations.
The performances, the staging, the music, the emotion... everything worked. It's the kind of theatre experience that reminds you why live theatre matters.

What would you sacrifice to stay in the spotlight?
And would it still be worth it?
What happens when the world feels like it's spinning out of control?
🎵 Barry Gordon performs "Eye of the Storm" from “Forever”, live at Altadena Musicians Open Mic Night.
The song explores a world filled with conflict, inequality, and uncertainty, asking what happens when we convince ourselves we're safe from the storms raging around us.

Meet The Team Behind “Forever”
Barry Gordon - Co-Creator, Composer & Lyricist
Barry Gordon is best known as an actor whose career has spanned over six decades, beginning at the age of three. He was nominated for a Tony award for his first Broadway role as Nick in Herb Gardner’s hit comedy, “A Thousand Clowns,” a role which he reprised in the film version. He has appeared in over a dozen movies, was a regular in several television series, including the Barney Miller spin-off “Fish” and “Archie Bunker’s Place,” and has guest-starred in countless television shows. He has also been a popular voice actor, best known for being Donatello in the original animated series “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”
Gordon actually began his career as a singer, scoring a gold record with his perennial Christmas hit “Nuttin’ for Christmas” at the age of six. Two years later, he performed as Little Jake with Mary Martin and John Raitt in “Annie Get Your Gun.” Less known, he started writing songs with his father when he was five, and has never stopped writing. Several of his songs he recorded for ABC, United Artists, and Dunhill Records, and he was privileged to release his self-written concept album “Pieces of Time” on Capitol Records in 1971. Recently, a compilation of his recordings has been released on Amazon and Spotify.
Among his other accomplishments, he was the longest-serving President of the Screen Actors Guild from 1988 to 1995, having been elected to that position four times.
As a long-time musical theater ju**ie, he and his writing partner, Gary B. Lamb, wrote and directed the musical r***e, “A Complete History of the American Musical…in 90 Minutes Or Less.”
Just saw "Operation Mincemeat" in London and wow… this show completely earns its reputation.
Five performers playing dozens of roles, nonstop energy, huge laughs, and one of the most unique musical theater experiences I’ve had in a long time.
It somehow turns a real World War II mission into something hilarious, smart, fast-moving, and genuinely impressive.
You can absolutely see why this became such a phenomenon.

What scares you more, aging… or disappearing?
Losing time, or losing relevance?
This is the question at the heart of "Forever".

7 shows. 2 cities. First stop: “Hercules.”
Starting this London/New York theater trip with “Hercules” in the West End and honestly… what a joy.
Big laughs, great music, incredible energy, and a reminder of why live theater is so special.
Interesting too that “Hercules” gives up immortality for love… while in “Forever”, our lead makes the opposite choice.
