Tim Hauser Legacy
11/14/2025
Hello all! After 11 years of storing an incredible amount of Tim Hauser and Manhattan Transfer memorabilia — records, clothing, and so much more — I’ve officially hit the point where I have to downsize. For a big chunk of those years, I had two 10x10 storage units packed full. Over the years I’ve already given many things to the family and donated several times through Alan — and yesterday I brought over another large batch of historically important items that may even end up in the documentary. I actually had to rent a trailer… there was that much! This is really the last big push so we can make sure everything that needs to be in the documentary gets there.
This whole process has been a true labor of love. I’ve stored, managed, and physically moved these items at least 10 or 11 times over the years. It wasn’t easy — emotionally or physically — and making the decision to let things go has been hard. But I really do feel it’s the right thing to do.
Even after all of that, I still have a lot of incredible, one-of-a-kind items that need new homes. Alan suggested I sell some of these items to make space and recoup at least a little of what I’ve spent on storage over these 11 years (more than $50k 😱).
So the best way to do this, I think, is a private sale. I’m planning to have everything available in one space, on one day in December — possibly on Tim Hauser Tim Hauser Legacy's 🎂 birthday and somewhere in Los Angeles or Pasadena. I
Location and details to come.
A portion of the proceeds will go toward a jazz scholarship in Tim’s name, something many of you know I’ve supported through the DeMiero Jazz Festival and the New York Voices Jazz Camps.
What will be available?
T-shirts, tapes, 45s, LPs, jackets, vintage ties, vintage shoes, vintage suits, 1930s World’s Fair items, posters, books, and so much more — rare and collectible pieces that any fan or collector would be thrilled to have. I’ve already given countless pieces to the band and to family over the years, (including all the family photos, video and childhood keepsakes and family heirlooms to the kids).
So what’s left are the treasures I’m finally ready to release back into the world. I think Tim would love the idea of it all being enjoyed again.
For those who can’t attend in person: anything not sold at the event may be listed online afterward or donated to charity. And if you’d still like to participate, let me know — I may be able to have someone shop for you during the sale.
