Everything started clicking for the first time in my life. But I wasn’t having a lot of luck with the studio where I was working, so my drummer recommended another. He said ‘I know this place, but the guy running it is a little rough around the edges.’ Turns out I like ‘rough around the edges.’ I walked in, shook his hand, and knew immediately that I was in love. After graduation, I became his assistant engineer - king and queen. I was writing and recording prolifically, winning Billboard awards, teaching during the day, gigging at night, and being flown in to sing weddings on the weekends.
