Play Inquire Make Learn
Who else is getting ready for the FLL Unearthed season? My homeschooled soon-to-be middle schooler is super excited to get started! We just bought this spike prime kit and wow! Itās pretty amazing! He is having a blast building the different attachments and playing around with the coding.
Letās take a look at whatās included for the language arts curriculum from Iām really excited to use this curriculum this year! I bought three different subjects to try since I really enjoyed the few L.A. novels we covered last school year. We will be trying out the full year for Science and Social Studies, in addition to the Language Arts. Iāll be showing the rest of the curriculum in later videos so be sure to follow and ā¤ļø this post! What curriculum for language arts will you be using this year?
We played, we laughed, we practiced taking turns, thinking critically, and managing emotions. But we also paused for a deeper conversationābecause this version of the game doesnāt include any dark-skinned characters. It was a great opportunity to talk about representation, inclusion, and how even toys can shape what kids see as ānormalā or āimportant.ā Our original Guess Who set had more diverse characters, but after it was damaged, we were gifted this one. Weāre still grateful for the funābut we donāt ignore whatās missing. So while we play, we also talk:š£ Why donāt all skin tones show up here? š§ What does that mean? š¬ How can we make sure everyone feels seen? Play is powerful. And with a little intention, even a simple game night becomes a lesson in emotional intelligence, social awareness, and advocacy. ā¤ļøLike š«¶š½ Share š Save āØFollow Check out my newly launched product: Lifetime All-Access Pass for educational printables: https://playinquiremakelearn.com šLooking for homeschooling stuff?
