Highlights from the Induction Ceremony The 6th Annual Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame (NVBHOF) awards weekend was a one-two punch combo with stellar events taking place August 17-18 at the famed Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Here is my recap and photos from the big boxing bash! The Class of 2018 included boxers Shane Mosley, Laila Ali, Kevin Kelley, Earnie Shavers, Chris Byrd, Alexis Arguello, Aaron Pryor, Henry Armstrong, Don Miner and in the non-boxer category: Senator Harry Reid, Todd duBoef, Jerry Roth, Jack "Doc" Kearns and Bill Miller. Texas Fighter Visits LA Former champion Paul Banke welcomed Team Cantu to Los Angeles by hosting a summer BBQ this past weekend. This Sunday Funday was presented by Banke and Angela Stanfield as they welcomed three-time champ "Lil" Oscar Cantu and his father (and trainer/manager Jaime Cantu) to Southern California. The family hails from Kingsville, Texas and traveled to Cali for a 4th of July vacation while also making new boxing connections during their trip here. [ 332 more words ]

Gene Aguilera’s publication of his newest book “LATINO BOXING IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA” is now official, and it has been released to the general public. This book is a must for all boxing fans and is a great read for all that have grown up in the Southern California area and have visited such legendary boxing venues as the Olympic Auditorium, Hollywood Legion Stadium, the Los Angeles Sports Arena, and the Forum.
