Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia.

For many, identity is not something that can be expressed freely or safely. It’s shaped by environments, by systems, and by the ways people are received when they show up as themselves.

Creating inclusive communities means more than acceptance.

It means paying attention.
Listening to lived experiences.
Challenging the assumptions that create harm.
And making space where people don’t have to question whether they belong.

That kind of environment doesn’t happen by accident.
It’s built through everyday actions, and through people choosing to show up for one another in meaningful ways.

Today is a day of cultural recognition for many in our community.
Cinco de Mayo, along with African World Heritage Day, offers an opportunity to reflect on history, identity, and the stories that shape how people experience the world.

These moments are often celebrated, but they also invite something deeper.
To look beyond surface-level understanding.
To learn where traditions come from.
To recognize the histories, resilience, and communities behind them.

Building inclusive communities means making space for that understanding.
Not just acknowledging differences, but taking the time to engage with it in a more meaningful way.
That kind of awareness doesn’t happen automatically.
It takes intention.
