My love for soapy creations started some time ago while playing around with melt & pour soap projects. I have always taken an interest in areas of science and art, and this was soapy art you could use! Moving forward, I wanted to learn the art of Cold Process Soap (the traditional way of making soap with fats and lye) but had some personal worries with the safety in working with lye and being a new parent. A short time later my lifelong childhood friend expressed her love for making cold process soap and after gaining hands on experience with her, my cold process soap journey began. I feel so blessed that my beautiful family has completely supported me during my journey of making PSK a reality! Many of you may ask how Pineland Soap Kitchen got its name and the answer for me is simple; Growing up my parents owned Pineland Tree Farm which was said to have been the oldest Christmas Tree Farm in Nebraska at that time. Year after year we helped our Dad with various tasks on the farm whether we planted trees in the spring, sheared trees in the summer or helped with sales at Christmas time. The family farm closed around 2010 after my father became ill and after many years of hard work and the joy of seeing so many happy families, it only seemed right naming my handcrafted business in honor of my Father. Carrying on and following a legacy of hard work (labor of love) and attention to detail I make my soaps in small batches using the cold process method in my Iowa home. Every batch is designed, handcrafted, hand cut and packaged with care. Each batch is made from a selection of high quality sustainably sourced oils and butters to create a skin loving creamy/bubbly lather. After each bar is hand cut it is then cured for 6 weeks to help produce a harder, longer lasting bar of soap. Each batch I create may contain additives such as milks, clays, honey, tussah silk fibers, fruit or vegetable puree, salt, cosmetic grade skin safe colorants, essential oils and/or fragrance oils. Making soap is truly a labor of love and the possibilities are endless! Make sure to check out my entire collection!
