Hitting Home

I do not believe that I have ever seen a woman emote her pain and frustration in a perfect fashion. The tendency thereafter is for the man to focus on her imperfect mode of communication rather than striving to answer the question, “What can I now do to address the original action or lack thereof that encouraged this disturbance?”

We have an entire chapter on this called The Bridge that deals with this paradigm, and it is always one of our more powerful moments in our conferences.

To be honest, it is getting more and more difficult to get men to see long in these situations and to take the focus off of themselves. They often panic, thus making their fear a greater motivator than her pain. In this way, the man is not a rock. He is a black hole sucking the life right out of the marriage.

A man in this situation is often hypocritical in that he wants the age old norm and biblical command of respect from his wife, but he fails to be the head in the marriage in that he is weak at being a rock for his wife.

I deal with this day in and day out.

Author, speaker, and marriage coach, Dr. Raymond Force, will be teaching couples how to fight for their marriage without fighting with one another using our biblical and refreshing approach.

The Barn is, by far, our favorite venue for hosting our marriage events. It provides a nostalgic setting for couples struggling to find their way in our fast-paced, technologically-driven world.

After over 10,000 counseling and coaching sessions, Dr. Force has learned the pressure points of couples that fail to connect and feel stuck. Couples find our material refreshing, thought-provoking, and devoid of many of our modern day labels that seem to further entrench couples into their issues.

This year, we are limiting the number of couples to 25. We have found that approximately 50 attendees is almost a perfect number for a marriage event. This allows us to enjoy more personal time with couples and conversate in a more relaxed setting between sessions.

On purpose, we live a 1950's lifestyle. This means little tv, lots of reading, no debt, playing in the dirt, sandlot baseball, playing musical instruments, working family businesses together, and enjoying family activities devoid of screens and modern technological advancements.

Many couples having issues have lost before they can even begin to fight. The battleground seems set up for failure. Truthfully, for all of our inventions that are supposed to save us time, time is the last thing we have at the end of the day. For all of our devices that allow us to communicate with people at a distance, we have utterly lost the ability to communicate with the person sitting next to us.

After 10,000 counseling and coaching sessions, I believe I have a good pulse on the heartbeat of our modern homes. Something has to change. Maybe instead of fighting one another, couples should fight against the rat race that gives us speed, but no viable destination.
