• Some stories find their way back. This antique postcard was once mailed from this very building when it was Bend’s post office. Now, it lives here once more, part of a collection thoughtfully gathered to honor the journeys that began within these walls. Each piece carries a story. You just have to look closely.

Finalist Art: Individual Piece in a Hospitality Space!

Suspended 40 feet above the convention center walkway Breaching and Diving are life size humpback whales, composed of thousands of translucent acrylic rods.  Designed as a visual landmark, the installation integrates large-scale aesthetics, seismic engineering, lighting, and long-term durability, demonstrating how contemporary art can operate seamlessly (above guests) within an active, high-traffic hotel environment.

In some cases the art becomes the space itself in this collection. Hand-crafted surfaces created on-site, directly on walls and ceilings, blurs the line between art, design, and function.

Inspired by the surrounding desert landscape, the collection draws on natural textures, regional materials, and references to celestial and geological forms. A monumental textile commission anchors the arrival experience, while custom sculpture throughout the property creates a rich, sensory spa environment. 🌵

💙The Summit Rock Clubhouse is a refined retreat rooted in the natural beauty and architectural heritage of the Texas Hill Country.

The design draws inspiration from the region’s historic German farmhouse architecture, blending timeless forms with a modern interpretation of Hill Country vernacular. Natural materials such as Austin stone limestone, hand-troweled plaster, exposed wood beams, and warm metal accents create a strong connection between the building, its interiors, and the surrounding landscape. This material palette reinforces authenticity, durability, and a sense of place that feels both elevated and approachable.
