Yard time:
I recall one of my first experiences when we moved to West Oakland I was attending Prescott elementary school. Still new to the area I believe I might have been in the 3rd grade at this point in my life had already been up rooted a few times moving from the north were I had just began making friends going to Richmond where I would return as a adult after years of separation.
So new place new school new routine. Not really out going and approachable stand offish and alone was how you could find me.
I remember one particular morning I had my normal cup of grits momma made just the way I loved
So while I'm enjoying my cup of heaven on earth a situation occurs.
Afterwards students present were being escorted away for questions.
When Mrs. Maclain got to me she said I know you were there Jerold what happened in the raspyist voice until tone LOC hit the scene.
I told her yes I was there eating my grits I only stopped when I heard all the yelling and crying and when I looked up I seen what y'all saw.
Long story short got suspended for participating in events causing great injuries to another person.
I think at that moment most of my family knew he's going to be a criminal.
Fast forward I remember the last time my father visited me while incarcerated he delivered to me a set of scripture to read when I returned to my cell.
Now this was different because he would normally read at me saying you can't run now so while I got your attention pay attention.
So I got back and had a new bunky then came in apparently to my judgemental eyes a ju**ie.
So the old man See's me grab my bible.
And before I started towards where my dad had directed me.
Old man spoke on it and we conversed about it.
I learned a lot about the old man that night.
The next morning when I went to court I was released.
Years later while maintaining one of the properties I worked again I ran into the old man he had moved into the building.
Joel he entered my life twice and both times were blessed brief experience's.

Working on relating The reality of the core of many of are problems and issues in life are results of the relationship we established with the people or problem.
