North Shore Labor Council Endorses Joe Markey for State Representative 20th Middlesex District, MA —

The North Shore Labor Council has officially endorsed Joe Markey in his campaign for State Representative in the 20th Middlesex District, citing his lifelong commitment to working families, organized labor, and building stronger communities.

The North Shore Labor Council, a coalition of nearly 50 unions representing over 18,000 working men and women across the region — including educators, electricians, grocery workers, public employees, healthcare workers, utility workers, and building trades members — announced its support for Markey as the candidate best prepared to fight for affordability, strong public schools, and economic opportunity for the next generation.

“I’m honored to earn the endorsement of the North Shore Labor Council,” said Markey. “As a someone who worked on a paving crew through law school, I know firsthand the dignity of hard work and the importance of standing up for working people. This campaign is about making sure families can afford to stay here, raise their children here, and build their future here.”

Markey’s campaign has centered on lowering costs for families, strengthening public education, protecting workers’ rights, and delivering practical results for the district.

Markey, an attorney, former prosecutor, and current Massachusetts Civil Service Commissioner, has built broad momentum in the race with endorsements from labor organizations, educators, and community leaders across Lynnfield, North Reading, Middleton, and Reading.
