- in their new home!! 🙌
We’re so pleased to share that Charley has been adopted by a wonderful couple in Northern California! He’ll be living the snowbird (snow corgi?) life, traveling between his new home in Roseville and Lake Tahoe! His new corgparents have had corgis before, and were adamant about wanting an older dog as a senior couple themselves - something we wholly agree with and commend them for being responsible about.
After arriving to his new home, time was spent teaching Charley’s new corgparents the 5 rules and boundaries, and everything they needed to know about him, his routine, and how to develop a healthy relationship with him. Some new behaviors around small animals emerged, so time was spent desensitizing Charley to the backyard cat. By the end of the session, he and kitty were coexisting, and Charley was so proud of himself!
In Charley’s first home, he was a companion dog to a senior couple before they sadly passed away. He wasn’t able to get much socialization before, but in this next chapter in life, Charley will have the opportunity to get the continued socialization and life experiences every dog deserves. He has plenty of walks around his neighborhood and adventures in Lake Tahoe to look forward to, and gets to fall right back into being a companion dog around the garden and home. He’s already getting acclimated to his new environment, taking in all the smells, and finding cool spots to take naps.
Historically speaking, some of the hardest dogs to find homes for has been senior dogs, but there was something about Charley that captured many hearts. We were floored by the number of interested parties he had! Maybe it was his story, big smile, sweet demeanor, and temperament. Not having a bite history certainly helped! As a senior corgi, he got the most applications we’ve ever received for a single dog, which gives us so much hope for future seniors. It’s a team effort to help low-riders in need find homes. A huge thank you to Charley’s foster Andy, for being his stepping stone, Rick for transporting Charley, Jackie and Morgan for completing the homecheck, and our placement coordinator Jen, for helping review apps!
Cheers, congratulations, and many happy nubs to Charley and his new family!! ♥️🐾
