It is such a blessing to do what I love for a living. I feel the journey that led me to this dream started after my four-year service in the U.S Navy, which is also what brought me to Norfolk, VA and my amazing husband, Jake. During this time I struggled with self-worth and purpose due to some mistakes that I had made and wasn't proud of. You may be wondering, "Why is she telling us this about her
self?" I share this because the very first transformation I was a part of is when God delivered me from the path I was on, gave me a second chance, and a new purpose in life. Shortly after my own personal transformation, i began to pray that I would find my calling, passion, purpose, and fulfillment in a career. About a year went by when I decided to paint our bedroom furniture because we didn't have the money to buy anything new. I had never painted a thing in my life. I immediately loved creating and watching the scratches and dings on the bedroom set become unnoticeable and hidden underneath beautiful colors. This new found joy became a full-time job & career... the answer to my prayer. I experience thankfulness through my work each and every time I'm re-working, "well-loved" furniture because the transformation process is also the best analogy of my own life. Just because something is old, has scratches, scars, broken elements, bad history, etc. doesn't mean it has to stay that way. Where there is breath, there is hope. My hope is that I can recreate something special with these pieces from history by adding TLC, a new look, and give it a chance to make new memories in my customers' homes. My motto and work ethic come from Colossians 3:23. "Whatever you do, Work at it with all your heart." My heart goes into every transformation from start to finish. Each creation is intended to be 100% unique. Quality finishes are extremely important to me and I always use quality / high-end paints, stains, and topcoat finishes. I test new products on my personal belongings to determine if I feel comfortable with using them on yours. I also have a handmade sign collection that my mom, Donna is a huge part of. The "Momma Said Collection" is a mother/daughter duo and we love making inspirational, beachy, fun signs and decor. Last, but definitely not least, Jake (hubby) is a huge part of this business and dream. He's always behind the scenes moving heavy furniture over and over again, spending his time to help me hunt and haul it, and always saying "YES, do it if you think it will get you closer to your dreams and goals." He is my #1 supporter and encourager and I'm beyond grateful for that. I would have never guessed that I would have such a passion for artistically refinishing furniture, much less turning that into a business. I am truly blessed to wake up and have the opportunity to do what I love.
