One of these extraordinary experts is Dr. Tarek El-Awady — leading Egyptologist, museum director, field archaeologist and excavation director.

He has directed and supervised archaeological work at some of Egypt’s most important sites, including the Valley of the Kings, Saqqara, Abu Sir, the Valley of the Golden Mummies and Deir el-Bahari.

Today, he continues to direct excavations at Deir el-Bahari, beside the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut — and it is here that our guests may have the rare opportunity to meet him. Imagine standing at this remarkable active excavation site and hearing about the latest discoveries directly from the archaeologist leading the work.

But Dr. El-Awady’s role in Egypt does not end in the field. He was also one of the key figures connected with the creation of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
